The second part of Ken’s popular talk “Processing Landscape Images”.

Deadline for advising David Woodthorpe if you intend to enter the Short Sets Competition. Can comprise of either a series of images or an AV presentation lasting up to about 8 minutes. The final time limit will be decided once the number of entries is known.

One of our members, Carmen Norman, will be giving a tutorial on Lightroom and Photoshop aimed at those who are less familiar with these tools for image processing.

A panel of more experienced members will answer any questions members may have about photography related topics. These can be submitted in advance via David Woodthorpe or Richard Jakobson or can be raised on the night.

An overview of street photography – in the widest sense. Some of the work will be colour but much will be monochrome for reasons that will be explained during the lecture. Tom will explore street photography - from people to places along with the art of storytelling.

Deadline for entries for Portfolio of the Year.  Unfortunately Covid-19 still precludes print entries. Members are invited to enter up to four digital images, each from a different genre. If submitting four images please indicate which one of the four you would withdraw if we end up with too many images. The genre categories are:

This entertaining lecture spans 35 years of photography and takes us to 5 continents.    The questions I am most often asked are about are my  ‘favourites’!    What are the pictures you are most pleased with – what is the best place you have visited – which subjects do you most enjoy photographing?    These are impossible questions to answer because ones opinion constantly changes.    How can you possibly compare the Queensland tropical rain forest with the desert of Utah; or compare the delicate but vibrant sunbirds with the power and majesty of a bald eagle?    It may be impossible but, in this lecture, I am going to try!    Working my way through my commissions over a span of 30 years, I will bring you right up to date with my latest and most exciting project.

The talk is about Jo’s personal 4-year journey from absolute beginner to her first distinction, with a few hurdles along the way.  It includes over 80 images, covering wildlife, portraiture, light painting and composites/creative and has something for both beginners and more advanced members.

A chance for members to have their images critiqued by some of our more experienced members ie Alan Walker, Bob Given and Keith Snell

This talk by David Clapp the highly acclaimed landscape photographer will be shared with Dumfries.

"How to see and capture strong images, from conception to completion - a mix of image styles (landscapes / seascapes / architecture /astro). A discussion on camera technique, equipment  and an exploration of the entire mental process of visualising and taking a successful and powerful image."

Following on from her previous successful live workshops Carmen will give another on the use of Luminosity masks and other Photoshop techniques

An additional set subject competition with the theme "Isolation" will be judged by Bob Given MPAGB,FBPE,EFIAP,EPSA

Our Chairman, David Woodthorpe CPAGB will give a presentation based on his time in India

Hand in for 1st Set Subject Competition.  Panel of three prints or three digital images. The subject is open to members’ choice but the images must work together as a body of work. It will be judged on both the image quality and how the panel works as a whole.

Adrian will share details on his camera settings, choice of lenses and other accessories, compositional choices made, and tools used whilst post processing with a combined Lightroom to Photoshop workflow.
Part 1 with address landscape and seascape images from the Lake District and across 5 continents.
Part 2 will demonstrate the diversity of his photographic interests with images to include: military fast jets low level through mountainous terrain and at air shows, travel imagery, birds and nature, and steam locomotives in the landscape.
