"Versatility in the Landscape" by Tony Higginson
I am going to be talking about using a wide range of photographic techniques and styles when out on location photographing the landscape which I believe allows me to capture good images whatever the weather or time of year. Many landscapers are limited by their favoured style which only really works given certain conditions which I think really limits their ability to get the best out of what they are confronted with.
I use lenses from 24mm tilt-shift to 70-200 2.8 and I shoot classic landscapes, seascapes, woodland, ICM, Long exposure minimalism, colour, monochrome, abstract, detail etcI will be going through different styles showing my examples, talking about why I like each type of landscape, and trying to encourage people to step outside of their comfort zones and embrace a whole range of styles which ultimately makes us better photographers.www.anthonyhigginsonphotography.co.uk

Andrea Hargreaves: The Art of Metamorphosis
I begin by showing a brief digital presentation of images showing how I started in club photography and some of which I used to gain my early photographic distinctions. This is followed by a presentation explaining the route my images take from photo shoot to finished competition entry – showing how I constructed a successful series of images which made up my latest distinction submissions. The images are mostly Creative / Altered Reality and include female nudity. Time permitting, I show a couple of extra powerpoint presentations where I build up some images layer by layer - very quick but effective! The talk is digital which is loaded onto my Macbook pro but I also bring prints to supplement the talk and for members to look at during the break if they wish.

Portfolio of the Year Competition
Judge: John Williams, EFIAP/b, MPSA, DPAGB from Penrith & District Camera Club
The Portfolio Competition will now go ahead as a digital image only competition in view of the potential risks involved in handling prints. In order to make the competition a little more interesting on this occasion as there are no prints, four digital images will now be required instead of three, each from a different genre as listed under the competition rules.
For those of you that have already entered please ensure that your additional image is submitted to Tricia by Friday 27th March. If you simply want to use one of the digital versions of your print entries then please let Tricia know. If you haven't yet entered but would like to do so then please let Tricia have all four of your entries by next Friday.
John Williams will then judge the entries and provide brief comments. The images, together with the scores and brief comments will be put on the KPS web site.

David Boag: "The world of a Wildlife Photographer"
This entertaining lecture spans 35 years of photography and takes us to 5 continents. The questions I am most often asked are about are my ‘favourites’! What are the pictures you are most pleased with – what is the best place you have visited – which subjects do you most enjoy photographing? These are impossible questions to answer because ones opinion constantly changes. How can you possibly compare the Queensland tropical rain forest with the desert of Utah; or compare the delicate but vibrant sunbirds with the power and majesty of a bald eagle? It may be impossible but, in this lecture, I am going to try! Working my way through my commissions over a span of 30 years, I will bring you right up to date with my latest and most exciting project.
